NGS Burns' Night Supper
Newcastle upon Tyne |
The Gentlemen are not offering a public Burns Night this year. |
|
A Bit of Culture Saturday 7th February Paris |
Paris
is one of the Gentlemen's favourite cities and we generally aim to visit
annually. There is a half-plan to attend the France v Scotland match on
the Satuday evening (7th), but we'll see how it goes for getting tickets
and hope that a fine dinner won't get in the way. As
always, the chaps expect to be well-fed, well-watered and well-entertained
in this beautiful city. |

The NGS Cycling Trip Thursday April 23rd 2015 La Palma Mallorca |
This
event was trailled for a Stag Do back in 2013, and was a great success.
So much so, that we now make it an annual event. The Gentlemen will head off to Majorca on the Thursday (with a Wednesday option for the hardcore), and spend a couple of days cycling around the island, visiting a few quiet taparias, enjoying some relaxing lunches and generally taking in the scenery. There's a planned change to the bikes this year - some nice comfy hybrids, though punishment bikes will be available for the keen ones. As this an annual event, full details are on our dedicated Cycling Trip page. |

Saturday June 13th 1254 Train from Ncl Corbridge |
The Gentlemen love Beer Festivals, and this is their
favourite - not only because it's a great day out, but because we are again
official sponsors the event!! Once again
the chaps plan to enjoy a fine festival - the usual plan is to try to
get there without having a cheeky one en route, sample what's on offer
and have a curry afterwards. |

Battle
of Waterloo 200th Anniversary Wednesday 17th June Waterloo Belgium |
The
Gentlemen couldn't pass up the opportunity to mark such an important historical
event, and so off to Waterloo we go! The plan is to fly to Brussels on the Wednesday evening, spend Thursday in Waterloo for the commemorative battle re-enactment and then probably head up to Amsterdam on the Friday for a few beers before returning home on the Sunday. This is a major historical event (the anniversary of the battle that is, not the Gentlemen's trip!) and so accommodation is in constraint. The Society booked a number of hotel rooms as early as December 2014. If you want to be part of the group then you need to let us know as soon as possible. |

Alpe
d'Huez August 1st 2015
Alpe
d'Huez |
This is one of the hardest triathlons in the world, but no problem for the Gentlemen! There's a 1.2km swim, followed by a 27km cylce up the Alpe d'Huez - the famed difficult ascent of the last stage of the Tour de France, followed by a 7km run. This stuff is hard-as-nails! So, the Gentlemen are training well and will add their secret key to success: a barrel of Wylam Gold Tankard and a proper beer pump, transported all the way to the Alpes. Apart from the main event, they plan to enjoy spending a week playing golf, mountain biking, summer skiing and generally relaxing. You MUST be in Alpe d'Huez before 1830 on Thur 30th July for registration. |

The NGS Gentlemen's Skiing Januray 9-16th 2016 Tignes |
Once again the Gentlemen will be heading off to the Espace Killy for their January ski trip. The chosen week is slightly later this year due to the timing of the New Year. We've had excellent conditions in this domain for several years on the trot and it offers a safe bet considering that we need to book in advance. Expect a catered-chalet type option
in Tignes. We will repeat the 2015 formula of "see you in the resort"
in that we won't be arranging group transfers. We recognise that the Gentlemen
have varying needs and availability, and it makes it easier for all if
each manages his own travel. |
